Palác Savarin, also known as Nostický Palace, and sometimes referred to as Piccolomini or Sylva-Taroucca Palace, is a late Baroque palace building located on Na Příkopě street, in Nové Město, Prague 1. It is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
The project, drawing on the tradition of the Václavské passages, will connect Wenceslas Square with Na Příkopě, Jindřišská, and Panská streets. It consists of four interconnected yet independent parts, each with its own character and use – with the Savarin Palace being one of them. The centerpiece will be the historic riding hall building, around which a new peaceful square with a garden, cafes, and restaurants will be created in the courtyard. Savarin will also include a multifunctional space intended primarily for cultural and social events, as well as a new entrance to the metro. The project also plans for a gallery to house the Slav Epic.
The Baroque palace itself underwent a careful renovation as part of this project. It began at the end of 2021, and the work was completed in autumn 2024. Due to its significant historical value, the renovation was carried out in close cooperation with heritage preservation experts, and many valuable details were uncovered during the process. Additionally, the casino was removed from the most historically significant part of the palace, and it will be replaced with exhibition spaces for paintings by Alfons Mucha.
